A farmer, author, and an active member in the Moorish American Moslem Community who has been and continues to be heavily influenced by the works of KRS-ONE, Portland's very own C3theGuru, and Oliver Anthony's "Rich Men North of Richmond" still gives him chills.

Background

Since 2015, Durrell has been heavily influential nationally in various leadership positions in his missionary work and outreach in Nigeria.


Experience

Durrell places a high value on embracing constructive criticism and has demonstrated this through his most recent work with REAP Inc., assisting with weekly childcare volunteering in Brown Hope's Power Hour and Interning within the Urban Farming community.


What

Similar to Educators and Guardians, after continuously making a meaningful impact in hundreds of families' lives, he has realized that he can better benefit the community by increasing the scope of his efforts, acknowledging that "a neighborhood is only as safe as a city in which it resides.


Accomplishments

  • In High School in Washington, I was in the Student Council and worked as a clerk for the local Justice Center.  

  • Shortly after graduating, I worked as an Inventory Manager in the agriculture industry.

  •  In 2017, I was appointed to serve as a Representative of The Alliance of Moorish American Progress with National Coordinator C.J. Shaw El and Political Activist LaKendrick Coburn El.

  • In 2018, I served as a Head Coach of the Jdub Club AAU Basketball Team under the Leadership of President Jalen Watson.

  • In 2019, I was first introduced to the Urban Agriculture BIPOC community through Arthur (Art) Shavers & Shantae Johnson.

  • In March 2021, I officially moved to Portland, Oregon, after getting married to my beautiful Wife, Dashia, and then I began a career in the various Portland School Districts through REAP Inc. as a Youth Essentials Coordinator.
